Pirate AU (WIP)
The Arendelle's were a respectable family. They owned their own island of fair size, and just out of the way enough to avoid attention, while being just close enough to trade routes to do well for themselves. The King and Queen treated their people well, and were well liked in return.
But their little island paradise didn't stay secret for long. A Prince, thirteenth in line for his family's throne, set eyes upon their home and decided to take it for his own. He came to their island, his ship battered and asked for shelter while he made repairs to his ship. They complied and allowed him to stay.
But when night fell, his men snuck out of his ship, invaded the mansion and killed the King and Queen right in front of their daughters.
Seeing the beauty of the Princesses, and their close age to him, the Prince offered to let them live, if they agreed to be his women. They refused, so he sentenced them to be executed before the whole town. He had them dressed in their best clothes and jewelry to truly drive home that it was this land's rulers he was killing, so as to prove to the populace that he was their new ruler.
But seeing the girls they had watched growing up, about to be hanged, the people rioted, and the royals staff intervened. They allowed the Princesses to escape, at the cost of their lives.
As luck would have it, the younger princess had a friend who worked on a ship, that was just docking at the island. They managed to get aboard, and the boy convinced the captain to take them somewhere safe.
The ship's captain was a kind man. He made sure that they found a safe place to call home, jobs, and made sure they weren't taken advantage of. They sold their fine dresses and jewelry, save for a necklace and broach, all they had left to remember their old life, and their parents.
Anna took up work in a tavern, while Elsa studied healing from a doctor. They adjusted well enough. The fact that the crew that saved them visited the island often helped. They'd become close to them, much like family.
So when the ship docked one day, battered and near destroyed, with half the crew dead and the rest injured, they did everything they could to help. Elsa tended to their wounds herself.
The captain's wounds though, were severe. He wasn't going to last long. He told them that it was the Prince who'd taken their island that ordered the attack, as revenge for protecting them.
Hearing that he was still after them. Still hurting their loved ones. The anger and bitterness that had appeared within Elsa the day of the attack deepened. She vowed revenge, and promised the captain that Prince Hans would pay for what he's done.
The captain believed her, and passed his title of captain to her, giving her his ship. The surviving crew knew her and her sister, and would help her learn the seas. Would teach her to survive. She continued to care for the former captain until his passing, then set about to getting the ship repaired, and learning all she would need.
The quartermaster, Kristoff taught her and Anna how to defend themselves, and how best to start what would undoubtedly be a long journey.
Soon, they were ready. They started small. Taking out smaller vessels, loyal to the Prince. They took from the ships, and killed their enemies, sparing only those who surrendered. Soon they were strong and experienced enough to take on stronger ships. Their crew grew in number, and eventually, they also took the ships of enemies, and started a small fleet.
Elsa had lost her island. But soon enough, she was being referred to as Queen of Pirates.
And she was coming for Hans.
