Wand: Hazel with Phoenix feather until end of fifth year when it gets broken by Pitch. Obtains her second wand, Elder with Unicorn hair, after recovering in St. Mungos.
Patronus: Arctic Hare. Unicorn when summoned without her wand.
Best class: Charms, followed by Transfiguration.
Pureblood. Father was Minister for Magic, and Mother was his assistant before they were both murdered by a Dark Wizard. Before the man had broken in, Elsa's parents had hidden her so he wouldn't find her. But she witnessed the entire thing.
Was born with uncommonly powerful magic, which presented itself while she was still young, and somehow, she managed to learn to control it without the use of a wand.
She continued to practice her magic, despite her parents warnings, until she accidentally hit her little sister Anna in the head. Anna was rushed to St. Mungos where she was treated, but her memory had been damaged.
After the accident, Elsa's confidence in her ability to control her magic was shattered, and because of that, she inevitably lost control, her magic sometimes lashing out when she was stressed. Her father gave her gloves that would repress her magic, so that she would only be able to use it with the help of a wand.
Years later and now attending Hogwarts, she is still a very talented witch, bordering on a prodigy. Though she still refuses to take off her gloves or perform magic without her wand. Which keeps her from discovering just how much more powerful her magic is without them.
Her own past made her wary of anyone who didn't take rules or magic seriously, as she considered them reckless and, given the right circumstances, dangerous. Meeting and becoming friends with Jack though, helped her to loosen up and become more friendly and fun.
During her fifth year she slipped up in hiding her wandless magic after a potions accident destroyed her gloves. Before she could make it back to her dorm to get spares though, she bumped into Professor Pitch, who found out about her ability, and reported it to his master, Maleficent, who then decided to make Elsa her next vessel. Near the end of the year she tried to possess her, but failed when Anna intervened. The sisters then managed to fight off the sorceress together.
It's later revealed that Elsa's magic is more than just Wandless magic, but an almost sentient magic, different from other Witches and Wizards. Some rare people are born with the ability to speak to snakes. Some can change their appearance at will. Some are gifted with the ability to see the future. Elsa is the first (known) of a new kind of gifted Witch or Wizard, with magic that doesn't need to be channeled through a wand. She can learn and use any spell one might use with a wand, at will. And sometimes, due to the sentient nature of her magic, against her will. Her magic can at times, react to her emotions. When she represses it, it reacts aggressively. But when she lets it go and accepts it, it's more than happy to do whatever she wants.
